My husband’s is special occasions.
He always makes every day worth celebrating special.
After my workout this morning I came out of the garage to find the tallest long stem roses I’ve ever seen, coupled with stargazers.
Later I found chocolates under my pillow and when I thanked him he told me they were from Hailey (my 18 year old…awww).
I figured he was taking me out to dinner since he wrote, “Plans” on the calendar. I pulled up from my taxi driving duties with the “little” kids and opened the door to a house with dimmed lights, 40s supper club music playing, candles lit, table set for five and a wonderful aroma in the kitchen.
Totally surprised! How fun! He made filet mignon, twice-baked potatoes and broccoli and served cider in our wedding crystal. (This is a man who does not typically cook!!)
At first the kids were pushing my buttons and I was thinking, “Umm…going out ALONE sounds good about now.” But then, the laughter ensued, smiles came out and I realized that time is ticking away and I love and treasure every moment we have when it is just the five of us together.
I also love what an example he is for my kids. A great example for Noah of what it means to love your family and your wife well on special occasions. He is also a great example to our girls of what they deserve from a young man. I know, he might be setting the bar a little high, with all of his shenanigans, but I love the message that men can still be gentlemen and the girls can expect to be treated with love, care and intention.
Happy Valentine’s Day friends. Let’s let love rule every day.
