Thank you for what you did for me today

Tuesday is my day to put my head down and work hard.

BUT, when I am invited to come hang out with some sweet senior citizens, I have to make an exception!

Today they made the cutest turkey cookie crafts, shared in conversation, ate a Thanksgiving meal, and listened to inspiration from the Bible while I got to help give manicures.

One woman chose red nail polish to match her Christmas sweater and said very little but “Thank you” over and over again.

One woman had so many coats of nail polish that needed to be removed first, that I spent a lot of time with her! 😉 I got to hear about her businesses adventures in her younger years and she was just as pleasant as can be.

And my last visitor was the sweetest man who walked gingerly over to me. He was hurting from missing his wife whose health is waning. He said he hoped she would be here next time with us so I could meet her. I told him I would pray for them and he was genuinely appreciative.

Then, I asked, “Can I pray for you now?”

I held his freshly manicured hands and prayed over the health of his wife of over 50 years and that she would return home to him soon. How he misses her.

He was so grateful for the prayers, looking me straight in the eyes, saying, “Thank you for what you did for me today.”

Of course I hardly did a thing, but as usual, I leave there touched and reminded of the legacy that the seniors in our midst leave for us to learn from, the picture of long-term love and commitment, and a generation not to be forgotten. Keep-Calm-Hug-A-Senior-Citizen-Its-National-Senior-Citizen-Day
